Career Explorations

Over the past three years, more than 1000 middle school and high school students have participated in Career Explorations at local hospital and health industry sites, getting valuable experience in job shadowing and meeting Healthcare professionals to guide their path. Career Explorations students are given priority placement in summer volunteer programs at area hospitals and many continue on to study in health academies when they move on to high school.

In January 2009, a new program was launched in the Energy and Emerging Technology industry cluster. 200 students from Desert Springs Middle School had an opportunity to explore existing and emerging careers in energy, geothermal production, water management and advanced transportation.

The Career Explorations program was developed with a grant from the Desert Healthcare District and is now being sustained by local school districts through district and grant funding.
