Business & Education Leaders Gather to Share Insight on How to Prepare Students for Top Jobs in the Future Economy
The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP) and Career Pathways Initiative (CPI) host a joint industry council meeting with the Healthcare, Advanced Technology, and Arts/Media/Entertainment Industry Councils to hear from local business partners and educators about their just completed 2010 Faculty Externship program. Teachers from all three K-12 districts – Coachella Valley, Desert Sands and Palm Springs – and College of the Desert – will share what they learned during their “externship” which gave them on-site experience at business partner locations to learn how to better prepare students for future careers. The joint meeting will explore and offer insight into the power of business and education partnerships.

Students Share Salton Sea Research
The Salton Sea “could be so much for the economy and the state,” said Abraham Perez, 15, one of the sophomores who presented some of his research during a Salton Sea forum the school hosted.
Sixty-two sophomores who are a part of the high school's Health and Environmental Health Academy of Learning researched the Salton Sea and investigated their ideas for solving the environmental health problems associated with the sea.

Teenagers sharpen their driving skills
Local teens, sitting behind the wheels of racing-red Mustangs, screeched, squealed and burned rubber in the parking lot at the Riverside County Fairgrounds last week during Driving Skills For Life, a driver safety program presented by the Ford Motor Co. and the Governors Highway Safety Association.
The course is designed to supplement the basic, and often minimal, driving instruction students receive prior to getting their licenses.
