CPA: California Partnership Academy is a three-year program, grades 10-12, structured as a school-within-a-school. The curriculum is focused on a career theme and coordinated with related academic classes. Funding comes from CA Department of Education via a competitive grant process. 51% of students in academy must be low-income/at-risk and districts must match funding from state. Students travel as a co-hort for at least two academic classes and their career technical education classes.

Career Pathway: A coherent sequence of rigourous academic and technical courses that allows students to apply academics and develop technical skills in a curricular area. Career pathways prepare students for successful completion of state academic and tecnhical standards and more advanced postsecondary course work related to the career in which they are interested.
ROP: Regional Occupational Program courses are funded through the Riverside County Office of Education. The purpose of ROP is to prepare students to (1) enter the workforce with the skills and competencies necessary to succeed, (2) pursue advanced training in higher educational institutions, and/or (3) upgrade existing skills and knowledge. ROP courses are typically the more advanced capstone courses that students take during grades eleven and twelve to prepare for entry-level jobs or to make a transition to postsecondary education, technical training, or apprenticeships.

SSP: Specialized Secondary Programs are established with competitive grant funding from the CA Department of Education. District must match funds and money must be spent to develop new and innovative curriculum for career and technical education programs. Funding is for a maximum of three years, after which time the district must sustain program costs on their own.

Tech Prep: The Desert Tech Prep Collaborative is comprised of the four Tech Prep consortia in Region 9 (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties) of the California Community College system which are: Baldy View Tech Prep Consortia; Inland-Desert Tech Prep Consortia; Mt. San Jacinto Tech Prep Consortium, and the Riverside County Tech Prep Consortium. Partners in the local Tech Prep consortia include community colleges, regional occupational program, local public school districts, and business and industry partners. Cal-PASS: Cal-PASS (California Partnership for Achieving Student Success) is an initiative that collects, analyzes and shares student data in order to track performance and improve success from elementary school through university. Utilization of the Cal-PASS Core Values represents a new approach to improving education. http://www.calpass.org
PLC: Professional Learning Council (Cal-PASS term) Currently, Cal-PASS convenes 66 PLCs with more than 1,200 faculty and other educators monthly across the state to align curricula outcomes in English and math from 11th grade through transfer level at community colleges. These councils are also working to embed contextualized assignments from career/technical education courses into math and English courses, and to embed in career/technical education courses the English and math elements that are basic to all curricula. Three Cal-PASS PLCs are active in the Coachella Valley: English, Math and the state’s first for Health Careers.
