About CPI

The Career Pathways Initiative is partnering more than 250 industry, economic development and education professionals along with students across nine cities in the Coachella Valley of eastern Riverside County to:

• Transform teaching and learning for 70,000 PreK-12th grade students
• Empower educators to engage students in perfecting critical thinking and communication skills through real-world, rigorous, inquiry-based learning
• Partner employers in developing their next-generation talent pipeline

Launched by the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership in 2005, in partnership with the James Irvine Foundation and Riverside County Economic Development Agency and Workforce Investment Board, CVEP’s Career Pathways Initiative is creating a network of career pathways that are preparing students for success in three industry clusters – Healthcare, Clean Energy and Arts, Media & entertainment.

The initiative has been named a national best practice by the Ford Motor Company Fund’s Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies (Ford PAS), and the partnerships established to support the Career Pathways Initiative have been leveraged to launch a regional scholarship initiative Pathways to Success.
